The average weight of Tarpons found in the New River in Orange Walk Town ranges from 25 to 60 pounds. The best time for fishing Tarpons would be during the months of mid-February to June. These fishing expeditions are done either at the edge of our land at St. Christopher's Hotel or out in the river on "Aluminum Jon Boats". It is preferable that you bring along your own fishing equipment; however if you don't have we can provide the service. These boats may hold up two persons at a time.
The price for the expedition ranges from $75.00 US TO $125.00 US which runs half day to a full day of Tarpon Sport Fishing which is strictly on a basis of 'Catch and Release'. In April of 2005 approximately nine tarpons were caught and the largest weighted up to 52 lbs as seen in picture.
